Treat yourself to a Golden Mile Christmas in Marbella

Fath-Zhar Benkiran, December 2019 | Local News and Information

Attracting an international elite during the summer months and drawing the owners of its sumptuous beachside Golden Mile penthouses and apartments during the cooler months for golf, yachting and relaxation under the mild Spanish sun, this area revered as one of the finest addresses on the Mediterranean is also a delight during the Festive Season.

It is at this time of year that the grand 6.5 kilometre palm-lined avenue linking Marbella and the Puerto Banús marina acquires a particular glow. It´s elegant parks, areas prime properties and resort complexes such as the iconic Marbella Club and Hotel Puente Romano, now glitters with the reflection of tasteful Christmas decorations that stretch towards Marbella’s main avenue, Ricardo Soriano. In the Old Town, the lights in the historic quarter’s Orange Square are a must-see at this time of year.

The temperature is still mild, but in the beautiful Golden Mile villas and luxury frontline beach penthouses gorgeous decorations are put up, homes made cosier than ever and even the nearby beach clubs offer blankets and mulled wine so that you can soak up the atmosphere while looking out over the Mediterranean Sea. Log fires are lit in the Marbella Club and the Puente Romano, where staff are hard at work to plan and prepare for glamorous à la carte Christmas dinners and New Year’s Eve parties. Accompanied by live music they often spill over from the luxury restaurants such as Monkey Club, Nobu, Serafina, or Thai Gallery at the Puente Romano piazza, to elegant nightclubs such as Suite.

Golden Mile Christmas in Marbella

The choice of dining on the Golden Mile ranges from casual family eateries to fine dining at restaurants such as Boho Club or Camurí, whose warm glow and attractive décor welcomes one in on a winter’s night. People also gather at the bar or enjoy a drink in the stylish lounge. Other refined eateries include Lobito de Mar by Dani García, while during the day people will gather for a cosy coffee or stylish light lunch at the elegant beachside Cappuccino, the Marbella Club’s MC Café, Organic or Celicioso, to name a few. With all of this within walking distance or a short ride by car, the Golden Mile is a fine place to be during the Festive Season, though another favourite of ours is the wonderful Casanis bistro in the Old Town.
